What is ONDC?
The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) was officiallyestablishedon December 31st, 2022 by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Government of India with theaim of promoting open e-commerce for businesses. With its focus on innovation and collaboration, ONDC has the potential to transform the e-commerce landscape in India. They feature delivery of products and services that can be ordered via their Network partners’ apps and websites and include Paytm, MagicPin, Crafsvilla, etc. ONDC is being tested in over 200 Indian cities and has more than 35 thousand sellers onboard. ONDC can be a game changer in the e-commerce and online retail sector allowing every seller to sell their products and services online with ease.
Ordering Food Online on ONDC via Paytm App

Open the Paytm app on your mobile phone.

Click on the Search icon at the top right side.

Type ONDC and under Services, select ONDC Food.

Make sure you turn on the Location service on your phone so that the app automatically detects your delivery address. After setting up the location, it will fetch all the available Food stores that are partnered with ONDC. Select your desired Food Store.

Add the food items to your cart from the menu of the selected food store and click on Proceed.

Now click on Add New Address if you haven’t set up your delivery address.

Fill up the address details and click on Save Address.

Then click on Select Address.

Pin thedelivery location on the map and click on Confirm Location.

Now click on Pay to complete the payment process and your order will be successfully placed.
Is ONDC better than Zomato and Swiggy?
Companies like Zomato and Swiggy have been in the food delivery sector for certainly a longer time and thus have an aggregation of a large number of restaurants while on the other hand, ONDC is a newly launched open-source network with comparatively small but rising numbers of sellers.
