What is End-To-End Encryption?

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a secure medium of communication where the conversational data between the two parties i.e., sender and receiver remain intact. Chats that have an end-to-end security layer enabled are protected with encryption and are inaccessible to any third party. When the message is sent from the sender, it becomes decryptable only by the recipient.


Enable End-To-End Encryption for New Instagram Chats

  1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.

  2. Next, click on the message icon to open the DM section of Instagram, and then click on the plus icon at the top right corner.open instagram app

  3. Enable the end-to-end encryption option at the top right corner, then select the account for which you want to enable end-to-end encrypted chat, and then click on Create chat.

  4. After that, a new end-to-end encrypted chat with the account you selected will be created.new encrypted chat


Enable End-To-End Encryption for Old Instagram Chats

  1. Open Instagram and click on the message icon.

  2. Now open any of the old chats in the DM section.

  3. Click on the account name of the chat profile at the top.instagram message

  4. Now click on Privacy and Safety and then select the Use end-to-end encryption option and you are done.

  5. A new end-to-end encrypted chat with the same account will be created.turn on end-to-end encryptiion
